Charter: Test and Measurement of Optical Components (TMOC)
An OIDA Community of Interest Group
Purpose
To define test parameters, test set-ups and test proceedures in order to reduce the cost and time associated with validating performance of 10 Gb/s and higher bit rate optical transponders.
Membership
Membership is not restricted to OIDA members.
Governance
TMOC governance council will be composed of elected members of TMOC group.
Chartering members
The OIDA members (min. 3) who are chartering this group are: Cisco, Ciena, Bookham Non-OIDA members who are chartering this group are: New Ridge Technologies
Fees
OIDA members may join for free. Non-OIDA members may join for $1500.
Initial activity plan
This group will initially perform the following activities:
- To define a set of common parameters that accurately determine the performance of transponders
- To define measurement techniques and procedures that achieves repeatable results.
- To define measurement techniques and procedures that achieves consistent results between different vendors.
- To reduce the need to repeat measurements at both the manufacturer and OEM levels for each incoming transponder.

This group will reachout to new members to increase membership in the following way:
