On August 1, 2007, the collapse of the I-35 bridge in Minneapolis reminded us all of the consequences of catastrophic structural failure. As a nation, we need to commit resources to assure the safety of thousands of bridges and tunnels throughout the United States.

The final solicitation (#10) of the Photonics Technology Access Program [PTAP] is now open. The Program officially ends in July 2008. We have made changes to the solicitation to reflect the relatively short time line that we have to review proposals, issue purchase orders, and pay the vendors. I invite you to participate in this solicitation.

OIDA's website has been redesigned to better meet the needs of OIDA members and others in the optoelectronics community. The new website provides enhanced access to OIDA and industry information and resources. A clearer structure, simplified navigation and improved search functions make finding information of interest to the OE industry easier than before.
